As Finanz.at reports, the climate bonus in Austria is being paid out for the third time this year.
The basic amount for adults has been raised from the original 100 euros to 110 euros, and the maximum amount has been increased from 200 euros to 220 euros. The payment is made from the federal government’s revenue from CO2 pricing. Due to the planned increase in CO2 taxes by 38 percent, the climate bonus could also increase significantly.
The climate bonus will be paid out in September
The climate bonus will be paid out in September and can amount to up to 220 euros, depending on where you live. However, the ÖAMTC is calling for an increase to between 150 and 300 euros for the year 2024. The Ministry of Climate Protection still has to wait and see how much additional revenue will be generated by the CO2 taxes before a final decision can be made on the amount of the climate bonus.
The second wave of payments for the 2023 climate bonus is currently running until the end of March. Anyone who did not receive the bonus last year due to relocation or other reasons will receive it in February or March. An annual increase in the CO2 price is also planned for 2024, which could also increase the climate bonus accordingly.
